Ach... Blush

I'm afraid none of them were real. We just got hit by hundreds of silly bots, all from China, which showed up, fetched a few random pages, then disappeared again. This went on for several hours. No real idea what it was all about... they didn't seem to be trying exploits, just fetching random pages for no apparent reason and achieving nothing that I could see.

One server I run I have simply blocked the whole of China from accessing it at all because of this sort of nonsense, but unfortunately I can't do that here because we have quite a lot of genuine users from China and I don't want to block them too.

That's because the users-online count includes guests as well as registered users Smile

Isn't china internet isolated as it is blocked from the rest of the world. Mainly cuz they are commies.

Apple had a problem with this when they released the iPhone in china.

No. Access to some sites is blocked - for instance people in China can't use rapidshare - but China most definitely has plenty of internet connectivity. Perhaps you are thinking of North Korea...

It's not just commies, either, there's a fair old bit of kerfuffle going on in Australia at the moment about government censorship of the internet.

They block sites in China, and yet send thousands to our uni's where they get full access to the internet, kinda strange really.

I personally believe the internet should not be restricted in anyway (save the obvious security things)

China's wanted change for years but its government has got the country in a choke hold, it wont last for much longer, 50 years max in my opinion. It depends how China reacts, my guess is they wont like not being fully in control of what they're citizens say and view... what a shame! Hehe

China is the most powerful country in the world and there goverment and most of the planet will fall into a period worse than the ressesion. Mainly cause china makes nearly everything we use on a daily basis and we have little to no other places to get them.
