There are only 3200 tigers left in the wild and the population is under constant pressure both from the usual conflict between human expansion and wildlife habitats, and from the commercial demand for bits of dead tiger from frantic morons who think they have some sort of medicinal properties - and sadly such idiots number in the many millions despite the complete lack of any foundation for their moronic beliefs. They even make tigers into wine, goodness knows how, goodness knows how anyone can drink it without throwing up for that matter.
The Ban Tiger Trade campaign seeks to put an end to the trade in tiger parts, both to reduce the pressure on the wild population and to end the revolting cruelty of the conditions under which captive tigers are bred for it. On their website you will find many options by which you can yourself help save the tiger - please do check it out
As a massive animal lover it is appalling to watch as the human race is on the verge of annihilating the wild tiger population. We have a responsibility to ensure the survival of these magnificent big cats in the wild. We should be ashamed that the number of wild tigers has fallen from 100,000 to just over 3,000 in 80 years. There are various things that can be done to help stop this & taking a few seconds to sign up to TigerTime is the least any conscientious animal lover can do.
